Drain coolant at radiator.

Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter.

Remove charge air pipe upstream of charge air cooler (4).

Remove screw (5).

 Bolt, low-temperature circuit coolant line to low-temperature circuit coolant line bracket

Disassemble low-temperature circuit coolant line (3) upstream of the bracket (2).

Remove coolant hoses from fitting (17).

 Installation:
Check sealing rings and catch springs for damage, thoroughly clean connection but do not grease and ensure exact seating of the catch springs.
Otherwise, leaks may occur on the engine.

Remove belt pulley on crankshaft.

Unscrew screws (6) and remove cable duct (7) on carrier (1).

Remove charge air cooler.

Remove bleed line at low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir and place to one side.

Check O-ring for damage; install new parts if necessary.

Unclip electrical wiring harness (8) on bracket (9).

Remove vacuum lines (11) on bracket (9).

Unscrew screw for the exhaust gas recirculation cooler bracket (10) on the bracket (9).

Remove bracket (9) for the refrigerant compressor.

 Pay attention to different lengths of screws.

 Bolt, refrigerant compressor bracket to crankcase/major assembly carrier/engine support/cylinder head

Remove alternator and fasten in the engine compartment.

 Do not remove the fan unit.

Remove coolant hose from thermostat housing (14).

 Installation:
Check sealing rings and catch springs for damage, thoroughly clean connection but do not grease and ensure exact seating of the catch springs.
Leaks occur on the engine otherwise.

Remove coolant hose (12) between thermostat housing (14) and radiator.

Otherwise, leaks may occur on the engine.

Unscrew screw for charge air cooler bracket (13) on carrier (1).

 Bolt, bracket for charge air cooler to major assembly carrier/crankcase

Remove vacuum hose from coolant pump fitting (15).

Remove bolts (16).

 Pay attention to different lengths of screws.

 Installation: First tighten all screw/bolts (16) finger-tight and then tighten with the prescribed torque.

Pull carrier (1) out of fitting (19) and remove.

 Installation: Replace seal between carrier (1) and crankcase.



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on the carrier (1) and crankcase.


Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

Remove coolant pump from carrier (1).

When replacing the carrier (1).

Check coolant pump for damage; replace if necessary.

Remove fitting (17) from carrier (1).

When replacing the carrier (1).

 Installation: Replace seal.

Check fitting (17) for damage; replace if necessary.

Remove poly-V belt clamping device from carrier (1).

When replacing the carrier (1).

Check poly-V belt clamping device.

 Bolt, poly-V belt tensioning device to major assembly carrier

If the poly-V-belt clamping device is worn,



replace poly-V belt clamping device.

Install in the reverse order.

Check engine cooling system for leak tightness.
