Check low-pressure fuel circuit for signs of leaks

 Danger

Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel.

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

Remove cover (1) on engine.

Remove lower screw/bolt from gearshift bracket on cylinder head.

Only if installed.

Disconnect electrical connection for engine wiring harness (2) and remove fuel temperature sensor (9).

 Collect fuel which runs out in a suitable container.

 Install adapter piece (6.5) together with sealing ring at crankcase.

 Install banjo union (6.4),  high-pressure hose (4) and  test equipment (3) at  adapter (6.5).

Remove fuel return line (7) on fuel filter (8) connection "RL" and close off using a  plug (6.3).

 Remove fuel line (5) on the fuel filter (8) connection "VL" and attach connection line (6.2) with  the compressed air filling line with a shutoff valve (6.1).

Remove fuel line for flame starting system on fuel filter (8) and close off bore with a stop plug.

Only for FLA.

 Collect fuel which runs out in a suitable container.

Fill low-pressure fuel circuit in the engine at the  compressed air filling line with shutoff valve (6.1) with up to the prescribed test pressure with compressed air and close the shutoff valve.

 Observe specified test pressure.

After the given test period, read off the pressure displayed on the  test equipment (3) and compared with test values concerning the pressure drop.

 Pay attention to the prescribed test period.

Release compressed air at the  compressed air-filling line with shutoff valve (6.1).

 Remove adapter (6.5),  high-pressure hose (4),  test equipment (3) and  compressed air-filling line with shutoff valve (6.1).

 Collect fuel which runs out in a suitable container.

 Remove plug (6.3).

Attach fuel return line (7) and fuel feed line (5).   .

Attach fuel line for the FLA with new sealing rings on the fuel filter (8).   .

Only for FLA.

Install fuel temperature sensor (9) with new sealing rings and connect up electrical connection of engine wiring harness (2).

Tighten lower screw/bolt from gearshift bracket on cylinder head.

Only if installed.

Attach cover (1).
