When replacing seat covers it should be noted that modified seat covers are used as of 9/98.
On the previous version the upholstery wadding (backing) is pushed into pockets in the center area of the seat cover and stuck onto the side area of the seat supports.
Following a new technical development, on the new version the upholstery wadding (backing) is sewn straight onto the seat cover over the entire width.
This dispenses with having to stick the upholstery wadding (backing) onto the side area of the seat supports.
The modification to the seat covers affects all model 210 vehicles with the fabric and leather version of the equipment line Elegance and Avantgard.
Not affected are all rear seats with IKS (integrated child seat) special equipment on the sedan and T-model as well as the third row of seats on the T-model.
Note:
The previous seat covers (1) and supports (4, 5 and 6) will no longer be available as a spare part in the future.

Alternative repair versions on front/rear seat cushions and front seat backrests are:
1. New seat cover on previous support
With the combination of new seat covers (7) on the previous supports (4, 5 and 6) the side backing (3) must be detached from the supports (4, 5 and 6).
2. Previous seat cover on new support
With the combination of previous seat covers (1) on new supports (9, 10 and 11) the side backings (3) must be detached from the previous supports (4, 5 and 6) and stuck onto the corresponding points of the new supports (9, 10 and 11).
3. Repair version of rear seat backrest
A previous rear seat backrest cover or previous rear seat backrest support can always only be replaced completely, i.e. both the cover and support must be replaced together.
