Remove/install

When working on the refrigerant circuit, seal all openings with suitable caps in order to prevent unnecessary penetration by air humidity and dirt.

All sealing rings must be replaced and moistened with compressor oil.

Drain air conditioning system

Installation: Refill air conditioning and check for proper operation and leaktightness.

Remove alternator (G1)

Detach plug (Y38.1) from AC compressor (1)

Label connector.

Unscrew bolt (4) from mounting clamp to refrigerant line

Detach lines (3) of AC compressor (1)

Installation: Replace sealing rings and wet with new compressor oil.

Unscrew bolts (2) for fastening the AC compressor (1) on the combination bracket

Remove refrigerant compressor (1)

Remove AC compressor (1) from above.

Observe oil refill quantity when replacing the AC compressor (1).

If the AC compressor has been replaced because of internal damage,

Replace refrigerant lines and

replace expansion valve.

Replace fluid reservoir (5)

Whenever any work is carried out on the air conditioning system, the fluid reservoir must be replaced.

Observe refrigerant refill quantity when replacing the fluid reservoir.

Install in the reverse order

Checking

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you place your hand into the engine when it is started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Check air conditioning for proper operation

Run engine at idling speed for about 4 minutes and check all the component functions which are of relevance for proper operation of the air conditioning system.
