Removing/installing

Remove O2 sensor upstream of TWC

 Only unscrew the O2 sensor upstream TWC from the catalytic converter (1) when replacing the catalytic convertor (1).

Slacken nut at clamp (2).



Unscrew bolts (6) and remove with springs (5)

Suspend rubber retainers (3) at catalytic convertor (1)

 Installation: Check rubber retainers (3) for damage, and replace if necessary.

Push back center muffler (4) and remove catalytic convertor (1)

 Secure center muffler (4) with an appropriate tie strap to the body against falling down.

Remove sealing ring (7) at exhaust manifold (8)

 Installation: Check the sealing ring (7) for damage; replace if necessary.

Clean sealing surfaces on center muffler (4), exhaust manifold (8) and catalytic converter (1).

Install in reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near engine

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and inspect exhaust system around catalytic convertor (1) for leaks
