Unscrew screws (4) and remove cover (3)

Detach front stiffening bridge (40V)

 Collar bolt, front reinforcement brace to frame floor

Detach rear stiffening bridge (40H)

 Collar bolt, rear reinforcement bridge to frame floor

Mark propeller shaft (20)

 Apply colored markings to denote the propeller shaft position relative to the transmission, rear-axle differential and the propeller shaft center support bearing (7) so that the factory installation position can be restored when installing.

Undo bolts on propeller shaft center support bearing (7) by several turns, but do not remove completely

 Installation: Tighten bolts on propeller shaft center support bearing (7). While doing so, note the installation markings for the propeller shaft center support bearing (7).

Detach front flexible coupling (20V) from transmission

 The front flexible coupling (20V) remains on the drive shaft (20).

 Installation: Note markings for installation position on front flexible coupling (20V).



Release pilot bushing from flex disks.

Detach rear flexible coupling (20H) from rear axle differential

 The rear flexible coupling (20H) remains on the drive shaft (20).

 Installation: Note installation position markings on rear flexible coupling (20H).

Release pilot bushing from flex disks.

Remove bolts from propeller shaft center support bearing (7) and remove drive shaft (20) downwards

 Secure propeller shaft (20) against falling.

 Installation: Partially screw n bolts for propeller shaft center support bearing (7), do not tighten.



Check

Check propeller shaft intermediate bearing (7) for wear and damage

If worn or damaged



Replace propeller shaft intermediate bearing (7).

Check front and rear pilot bushing for sealing lip wear and damage

If worn or damaged



Replace pilot bushing.

Fill cavities in front and rear pilot bushing with multipurpose grease

When reusing pilot bushings.



Check front flexible coupling (20V) and rear flexible coupling (20H) of drive shaft (20) for wear, and replace, if necessary


