Detach exhaust shielding plate (105c) in tunnel area

Detach exhaust shielding plate (105e) above center muffler

 Installation: Replace sheet metal nuts.

Detach cover for fuel pump assembly (115c)

Remove bracket for safety belt anchorage (127).

 Installation:  Attach mounting frame bow for seat belt mounting.

Detach reinforcement bridge (34)

Loosen propellor shaft clamping nut (3)

 Models 140.02/03/1 to 6/95 and 140.04 up to 3/93,
Models 140.050/051 up to 11/91.

 Installation:  Tighten propeller shaft clamp nut.

Loosen bolts (7a) of propeller shaft center support bearing

 Installation:  Tighten bolts of propeller shaft center support bearing.

Detach front propeller shaft from transmission

 Flexible disk remains on propeller shaft.

 Installation: Mount the front propeller shaft on the transmission.

Remove propeller shaft from rear axle center assembly.

 Flexible disk remains on propeller shaft.

 Installation: Attach the rear propeller shaft to the rear axle differential.

Remove bolts (7a) of propeller shaft center support bearing

Pull propeller shaft from centering pins on transmission and rear axle, then extract to the rear

 Installation: Coat splined shaft profile with MB long-term grease

Separate front and rear propeller shaft if necessary

 Installation: Coat splined profile with Molykote grease.

Connect sections of propeller shaft.

Checking

Check flexible couplings, centering sleeves and propeller shaft center support bearing for wear

Replace if necessary

Remove/install propeller shaft intermediate bearing and replacing deep-groove ball bearing.

Replace centering sleeve.

Install in the reverse order

 Installation

Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
