	Preparation
1	Drive vehicle onto measuring station	 The wheel alignment check must be carried out on a horizontal, level and clean base. An alignment check bay with a workshop pit is a substantial advantage.
2	Move vehicle to driving level	 See operator's manual. Ensure there is a sufficient supply of compressed-air throughout the entire measuring procedure.
3	Check air pressure of tires when axle is under no load, and correct if necessary	 See vehicle manufacturer's technical specifications.

5	Check suspension and linkage for signs of wear, repair if necessary	 Before starting the measurement make sure that the axle is in an orderly condition. This avoids any faulty measurement results.
6	Hook steel straightedge (1) with bracket onto kingpin (2)

7	Insert second measuring rule (4) as far back as possible into the frame

		 Clean jacking point and check for deformation.
8	Attach scale plates to steel straightedge (1, 4)

9	Attach wheel holder (3) to the axle to be measured

10	Raise axle and carry out rim runout compensation

		 Observe the operating instructions for the wheel alignment system. Only angular alignment (drive line angle) can be adjusted on the axle; on axle 749.306/307/308/309 the toe-in can also be adjusted. Repeat check on all axles.
