| Remove | ||
Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
1 | Place the vehicle on a suitable lift | The most convenient and safe way to work under this vehicle is using a lift with adequate capacity.
Subsequently, to remove and install the suspension components of each axle, the vehicle should be supported by the frame, both at the front and at the rear, on four or six large trestles.
2 | Disconnect the negative battery cable or turn off the main switch | For vehicles equipped with electronic engines, always observe the recommendations regarding the care with the vehicle electronics.
3 | If necessary, remove the wheels | Remove/install wheels
Where a suitable lift is used, remove the wheels is not necessary.
4 | Depressurize the front pneumatic bellows | Excess stroke of the dampers can lead to serious damage thereto.
This procedure may facilitate moving the front axle by the lift, also facilitating the release of the dampers on the anchors.
5 | Remove the self-locking nuts (3) from the upper anchor and remove the u-cups (4) and upper rubber pads (5) | To prevent the damper rods from rotating, you should hold the u-cup (4) using a spanner from the hex part, while loosening the self-locking nut (3).
Pay attention to the correct mounting position of the u-cups and convex washers.
6 | At the lower anchor, hold the convex washer (13) from the hex portion and remove the self-locking nut (14), the u-cup (13) and the lower rubber pad (12)
7 | Remove the damper and, on the upper part, remove from its rods the lower rubber pad (7) and the u-cup (8). In the lower part, remove the upper rubber pad (10) and the upper u-cup (9) | Note the full release of the dampers and, if necessary, slightly move the front axle by actuating the lift.
| Clean | ||
8 | Thoroughly clean all components, especially the parts supported by the frame | Eliminate any signs of rust.
Rubber pads should not be cleaned with solvent fluids.
| Check | ||
9 | Check the condition of the dampers | Replace the dampers in case of worn or damaged rods, dented or deformed bodies, signs of leakage or lack of action.
It is important to consider that the front dampers interfere with the steering behavior of the vehicle, therefore we recommend that original dampers are used at all times, and that they are replaced in pairs, on the same axle and on both sides.
| Install | ||
10 | Install the upper rods of the new front dampers (2) the u-cups (8), the lower rubber pads (7) and insert the rods on the backplates of the frame (6). From the top of the bracket, install the upper rubber pads (5) and the u-cups (4) | Be sure to properly position the u-cups (4).
11 | Hold the u-cup (4) with a spanner from the hex portion while tightening the self-locking nut (3) to the specified torque | .Dumpers on the chassis
.Dumpers on the axle | |||
12 | Install the u-cups (9) upper rubber pads (10) in the lower rods of the new front dampers (2), and insert the rods in the support brackets (11) secured to the axle. From the bottom of the bracket, install the lower rubber pads (12) and the u-cups (13) | Observe the correct position of the u-cups (13).
13 | Hold the u-cup (13) with a spanner from the hex portion while tightening the self-locking nut (14) to the specified torque | Do not apply excessive torque because the convex washer (13) limits the tightening at the damper rod stop (indicated by the arrow).

.Dumpers on the axle | |||
14 | Install the wheels if they have been removed | Remove/install wheels
Danger | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
15 | Lower the vehicle from the lift
16 | Connect the negative battery cable or turn on the main switch | For vehicles equipped with electronic engines, always observe the recommendations regarding the care with the vehicle electronics.
17 | Make a test drive, preferably on a ripple terrain | Check the vehicle's behavior. |
