 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Switch off ignition.

 See information from body manufacturer.

Drain off coolant.

Expose electric line (8) and disconnect electrical connector at exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) differential pressure sensor (B621).

Remove bracket (3) at exhaust gas recirculation cooler (1).

Remove screw/bolts (6).

 Screw/bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to cylinder head bracket

Release screw (7).

 Screw/bolt, exhaust gas recirculation line to cylinder head bracket

Push exhaust gas recirculation line (5) away from bracket (10).


Do not damage hose pieces at EGR line (5).
Hose sections must otherwise be replaced.

Remove coolant connection (12) at oil/coolant module (9).

Only in new as-built configuration (B).

 Installation: Replace seal on coolant connection (12).

Pull out coolant feed pipe (2) from exhaust gas recirculation cooler (1) and oil/coolant module (9) and remove.

In case of old as-built configuration (A)

 Installation: Replace connection pieces (4, 11).

 Coolant fitting on oil/coolant module

Pull out coolant feed pipe (2) from exhaust gas recirculation cooler (1) and remove together with coolant connection (12).

In case of new as-built configuration (B)

 Installation: Replace connection piece (4).

Clean sealing surfaces.

Install in the reverse order.

Start engine and perform an engine test run.

 Allow engine to run at a higher rotational speed.

Switch off engine and check for leaks in area of coolant feed pipe (2).

 Visual inspection.
