Remove/install

Remove fuel high-pressure pump(1).

Attach a suitable adapter (4.1) for the drive gear (2) to the locating tool (4).

Loosen nut (3).

Detach drive gear (2).

 Puller, two-arm

Unscrew nut (3).

Remove drive gear (2) and key (7).

 Installation: The centering cone of the drive shaft and the tapered seat of the drive gear (2) must be free of grease.



Check

Check drive gear (2) for damage.

If damage is present,



Replace drive gear (2).

Check counter gear of gearwheel drive for damage.

If damage is present,

replace counter gear.

Remove positioning disk (5) from drive gear (2).

Only if the drive gear (2) or the positioning disk (5) were replaced.

 Installation: The marking (A) on the positioning disk (5) must point away from the fuel high-pressure pump (1).
Replace bolts (6).
