| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove high pressure pump (2) | ||
2 | Detach camshaft sprocket (3) on camshaft (1) and lay in timing chain chamber | Fix timing chain (4) in place on camshaft sprocket (3) using a cable tie. | |
3 | Take off camshaft bearing caps (5) | Observe loosening and tightening sequence for camshaft bearing caps (5) otherwise the camshaft (1) can be damaged. | |

4 | Remove camshaft (1) from cylinder head | Installation: Wet cams and bearing points of camshaft (1) with engine oil. Insert camshaft (1) in the cylinder head in such a way that the cutout on the camshaft (1) coincides with lugs on the camshaft sprocket (3). | |
5 | Remove roller-type cam follower from cylinder head and check for damage | Installation: Replace roller-type cam follower if necessary. | |
6 | Install in the reverse order |
