Crankshaft bearing caps (6, 6a) are numbered consecutively, starting at the first crankshaft bearing cap at the front (timing case cover). In the case of a correct installation position, the lug (arrow) at the crankshaft bearing cap points towards left when viewed in the direction of travel (intake side)

Installation: Oil bolts of crankshaft bearing caps at thread and bolt head contact surface. Turn crankshaft (1), check for ease of movement.

Remove crankshaft (1) from cylinder crankcase

Installation: Oil main bearing shells (2, 4) before insertion of crankshaft (1).
Oil grooves in thrust plates (3, 5) must point towards thrust collars of crankshaft (1).

Thrust plates (5) in crankshaft bearing cap (thrust bearing) have a retaining lug as an anti-twist lock
