Remove left secondary chain drive timing chain.

Remove both camshafts from cylinder head (1).

Remove coolant line from cylinder head (1).

Loosen cylinder head bolts(2) in stages in the reverse order of the tightening procedure and remove.

Remove cylinder head (1) from crankcase.

 Installation: Fit a new cylinder head gasket on the crankcase. Pay attention to the pilot bushing for fixing the cylinder head (1) in place.



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head (1) and on crankcase.

Remove sealant

Blow out threaded holes of the cylinder head bolts(2) in the crankcase with compressed air and clean away engine oil and coolant.



Check

Check sealing surfaces on the cylinder head (1) and crankcase for cracks and unevenness and replace if necessary.


Do not rework cylinder head (1) and crankcase (surface grinding).
If this is done, the permissible machining tolerances will be exceeded.

 Any distortion of the cylinder head (1) occurring in the longitudinal or transverse directions will be balanced out again during reassembly through tightening of the cylinder head bolts (2).

Install in the reverse order.

Change engine oil and oil filter element.



Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
