Hydrostatic fan drive - oil and filter change

Drain oil

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns when working in engine during starting procedure

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

Start engine

Turn off engine

 The coolant temperature should be at least 50 °C.

Open rear lid

Detach the engine compartment paneling below the radiator

Remove the oil drain screw (3) and drain the oil completely

 Collect the oil in a suitable oil reservoir. If required, suction off the remaining oil from the oil reservoir (2).

Follow regulations for disposal.

Unscrew the filter cartridge (1)

Screw on a new filter cartridge (1)

 Screw on the new filter cartridge (1) by hand.

Install and tighten drain plug (3)

 Replace sealing ring.



Pour in oil

Unscrew the cover of the oil reservoir (2) and fill oil up to the marking (arrow)

 Use engine oil of the viscosity class, SAE 5W-30, only; otherwise, the hydrostatic fan drive can develop problems.



Crank the engine and adjust the decreasing oil level in the oil reservoir (2) by adding more oil

 When the engine is running, the oil reservoir (2) must always have oil; otherwise, the hydrostatic fan drive can be damaged.



Check

Run the engine for about five minutes at idle speed

Check the oil level in the oil reservoir (2)

 When the engine is running and when it is cold, oil must be filled up to the marking (arrow) in the oil reservoir (2).

Turn off engine

Check the filter cartridge (1) and the oil drain screw (3) for leaks

Install the engine compartment paneling under the radiator
