Anti-corrosive/antifreeze additive solution - Solution "A"
CLASS MB 325.0 / 325.3 / 326.3
Purpose:
The anti-corrosive/antifreeze additive, aims at:
Protection against corrosion and cavitation;
Antifreeze protection;
Boiling point elevation - the coolant does not evaporate so quickly.
Note: Products class MB 326.3 are already diluted, meaning they are ready for use.
Note: Class MB 325.3 and MB 326.3 products are not to be utilized in Series BR 600 engines.
Nota: Under no circumstances mix different anticorrosive / antifreeze cooling liquids . For the supply with a new coolant, the refrigeration system should be washed. To do this, supply the engine with clean water and let it run in alternating rotations for approx. 5/min. In vehicles with Code B3H select the Retarder maximum brake stage several times. If the wash water is still colored after washing, a further washing process must be performed.
Vehicles with Code B3H during the washing process should not be moved.
Otherwise the Retarder will be damaged.
Proportions of the mix (MB 325.0 / MB 325.3):
Aiming at satisfying the purpose of the anti-corrosive/antifreeze protector, the coolant needs to contain 50% in volume, i.e., 50% anti-corrosive/antifreeze and 50% fresh water.
The concentration (50%) measured with the hydrometer must:
Not exceed 55% in volume, as the maximum antifreeze point is already reached in this proportion, besides, higher concentrations lower again the anti-corrosive protection and worsen heat dissipation;
Not be lower than 45% in volume, to ensure the required protection against corrosion and cavitation.
Preparation of the mix (MB 325.0 / MB 325.3):
Prepare the new coolant in an appropriate container. Fill the container with 50% in volume of additive and 50% in volume of fresh water - thoroughly homogenize the mix;
Control the concentration of the mix utilizing a hydrometer;
Should it be necessary to make corrections, add water or additive until the specified concentration is obtained;
Under no circumstances mix the anti-corrosive/antifreeze coolant existing in the system with any other additive.
Anti-corrosive additive solution - Solution "B"
CLASS MB 312.0
Purpose:
The anti-corrosive additive, when added in the proportion of 10%, aims at:
Protection against corrosion and cavitation;
Note:The anti-corrosive additive has no antifreeze capacity, i.e., for temperatures below 0 (zero) °C it is mandatory to utilize the anti-corrosive/antifreeze additive (solution "A").
Note:Additive class MB 312.0 is not to be utilized in Series BR 400, BR 500 e BR 600 engines.
Proportions of the mix:
The coolant will have to contain 10% anti-corrosive additive and 90% fresh water.
The concentration of the mix has to be checked with the use of a hydrometer.
Preparation of the mix:
Prepare the new coolant in an appropriate container. Fill the container with 10% in volume of additive and 90% in volume of fresh water - thoroughly homogenize the mix;
Control the concentration of the mix utilizing a hydrometer;
Should it be necessary to make corrections, add water or additive until the specified concentration is obtained;
Under no circumstances mix the anti-corrosive coolant existing in the system with any other additive.
Additional considerations (solutions "A" and "B")
To top-up the level during vehicle use, always utilize the same mix, i.e., water with the additives recommended in the Lubricants Book;
The mix concentration in the cooling system will have to be checked periodically as specified in the Maintenance Manual of the vehicle;
The coolant will have to be replaced as specified in the Maintenance Manual of the vehicle.
