Removing

Remove flywheel (2)

Disassemble

Center drill ring gear (1), unclip using a chisel and remove from flywheel (2)

Clean ring gear (1) contact surface on flywheel (2)

Measure

Measure outside diameter of ring gear (1) contact surface on flywheel (2)

If value given in table is not met then flywheel (2) must be resurfaced to the next deviation.
Replace flywheel (2) if necessary.

Measure inside diameter of contact surface on new ring gear (1)

Calculate overlap between ring gear (1) and flywheel (2):

Outside diameter of ring gear (1) contact surface on flywheel (2) minus inside diameter of contact surface on ring gear (1).

If calculated measured value is not within permissible overlap then use ring gear (1) of repair stage I if necessary.

Warm up ring gear (1)

Warm up using a heating plate or oven to maximum installation temperature.

Temperature measuring device (measuring range -200°C to +1000°C)

Measurement sensor (measuring probe, straight) for temperature measuring instrument

Heating plate

Drive ring gear (1) all the way onto flywheel (2)

with the aid of a suitable punch.

Check axial runout of flywheel (2) on ring gear (1)
