2 | Read out parameters in gear control (GS) control unit (A16) using STAR DIAGNOSIS and note down | Parameters: Clutch wear, clutch wear correction factor, transfer case, construction site function and vehicle model. | |

4 | Remove gate module | ||
5 | Detach gear control (GS) control unit (A16) from housing (1) | ||
6 | Remove splitter 1 solenoid valve (MS1) (Y29) and splitter 2 solenoid valve (MS2) (Y30) | ||
7 | Remove gate 1 solenoid valve (MG1) (Y33) and gate 2 solenoid valve (MG2) (Y34) | ||
8 | Detach intermediate plate (5) from gear control (GS) control unit (A16) | Scrap the removed gear control (GS) control unit (A16). | |
9 | Check hole (12) in housing (1) of gate module | If there is no restrictor orifice (arrow) in the hole (12), the valve seats (3) and the gear control (GS) control unit (A16) must be replaced. Proceed with step 10. | |
If there is a restrictor orifice 1.2 mm (arrow) in the hole (12) on the housing (1), the gear control (GS) control unit (A16) must be replaced. A drill bit 1.2 mm can be used to check the hole (12). Proceed with step 13. | |||
10 | Remove valve seats (3) for splitter 1 solenoid valve (MS1) (Y29) and splitter 2 solenoid valve (MS2) (Y30) | Pull out the valve seats (3) using the pulling hook. Scrap removed valve seats (3). | |

11 | Coat new sealing rings (9) with synthetic grease and fit on new valve seats (3) | The synthetic grease is included in the control unit repair kit. | |
12 | Coat the new valve seats (3) with synthetic grease and install in housing (1) | The synthetic grease is included in the control unit repair kit. Press valve seats (3) into housing (1) without tool. | |
13 | Attach intermediate plate (5) to new gear control (GS) control unit (A16) | Install new gasket (6). | |

14 | Install splitter 1 solenoid valve (MS1) (Y29) and splitter 2 solenoid valve (MS2) (Y30) in the new gear control (GS) control unit (A16) | Check sealing rings (4) for damage and replace if necessary. | |
15 | Install gate 1 solenoid valve (MG1) (Y33) and gate 2 solenoid valve (MG2) (Y34) in the new gear control (GS) control unit (A16) | Check sealing rings (4) for damage and replace if necessary. | |
16 | Install gear control (GS) control unit (A16) on housing (1) | Install new sealing ring (8). | |

19 | Transfer parameters of old gear control (GS) control unit (A16) to new gear control (GS) control unit (A16) using STAR DIAGNOSIS | ||
