After triggering the pedestrian protection the pyrotechnical engine hood lifter moves to the position shown on the picture. In this case, the two engine hood lifters and the hinge dampers on the engine hood hinges must be replaced.
Triggering only occurs through an impact with the front bumper. Triggering without any cause is not possible because of the hose sensor system.
If triggered for a reason the fault codes B 273113 and B 273013 are filed in the Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10).
Triggered engine hood lifters may not be settled through warranty or goodwill channels.
A TIPS case with the following information must be created in case of customer requests:
Fault report from Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10)
