1 | Expansion line |
A | Previous routing |
B | Changed routing |
W47.10-1061-06
As from 02.2014, in vehicles equipped with an auxiliary fuel tank, a change has been made to the routing of the compensating line (1) between the fuel tank and auxiliary fuel tank. In case of previous routing (A), the expansion line (1) was fastened along a transverse-running connecting rail. In order to achieve higher ground clearance on the vehicles, in case of the changed routing (B), the expansion line (1) is routed upwards along a curve and fastened below the cross member. So as to ensure that the fuel level between the fuel tank and the auxiliary fuel tank can be adjusted without any problem, the expansion line (1) with changed routing (B) must contain fuel.
Therefore, when refueling a new vehicle for the first time, as well as following any repair work or conversions, which involved draining of the compensating line (1), the fuel tank on the driver side must always be fully filled once. Otherwise fuel flow between the fuel tank and the auxiliary fuel tank can get obstructed due to an air bubble in the expansion line (1). This leads to an incorrect value on the fuel level indicator in the instrument cluster and also the range estimate on the on-board computer.
