Modification notes
As part of our product controlling we have ascertained that fan drives are sometimes submitted with the wrong damage code.
For this reason we have extended the damage codes and revised the illustrations.
The following damage codes are to be used for fan drives:
damage code 20 301 for viscous fan clutches
damage code 20 302 for electromagnetic fan clutches
damage code 20 304 for planetary gear fan clutches
The damage codes for the remaining parts, as listed in the damage code list, retain their validity.
In this context we would like to point out that in order to optimize fuel consumption, the electromagnetic fan clutches are activated later than the viscous fan clutches and that slightly higher engine temperatures may thus be reached.
Engine temperature may indeed frequently lie at 100 C̊; this however is safe for the engine and thus does not justify any replacement of an electromagnetic fan clutch.
