Function
General
The quantity control valve has the following tasks:
Closed-loop control of the fuel inflow to the pump elements of the high-pressure fuel pump
Interruption of the fuel supply to the pump elements of the high-pressure fuel pump when the engine is switched off
Closed-loop control of the fuel pressure in combination with the pressure regulating valve, fuel pressure sensor and combustion engine control unit
The quantity control valve is installed in the high-pressure fuel pump.
Function
The fuel delivered by the fuel pump enters the high-pressure fuel pump flange. The fuel is fed further to the quantity control valve and fuel overpressure valve.
On the basis of the signal from the combustion engine control unit, the quantity control valve regulates the fuel quantity supplied to the pump elements via an annular passage.
The quantity control valve is actuated by the combustion engine control unit with a pulse width modulated signal. In a deenergized condition, the quantity control valve is open.
