| Removing | ||
Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel and risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel | No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.
| Preconditions/notes regarding checking the delivery rate of the fuel metering pump | ||
1 | Remove fuel strainer in fuel metering pump intake connection, clean and then install again
2 | Remove fuel line (2) from thrust side of fuel metering pump (1) | If two fuel metering pumps are installed, determine the pump to be checked using the fuel lines.
3 | Connect measuring hose (3) to thrust side of fuel metering pump, and insert end of measuring hose into a measuring glass (4).
4 | Connect multimeter (6) for monitoring the battery voltage to the battery (5) | To measure the delivery rate, a battery voltage of 11 V to 13 V must be applied.
Bleeding | |||
5 | Switch heater unit on | Fuel delivery starts after approx. 40 s. In order to bleed fuel line, allow heater to operate until fuel flows evenly and bubble-free out of measuring hose.
6 | Switch heater unit off
7 | Drain measuring glass and reinsert end of measuring hose into measuring glass
Measure | |||
8 | Switch heater unit on | Fuel delivery starts after approx. 40 s. Hold measuring glass at level of heater during measurement.
9 | Wait for fuel delivery to stop | The auxiliary heater control unit stops delivering fuel after approx. 90 s.
10 | Switch heater unit off
11 | Determine delivery quantity in measuring glass and compare to specified values | If the desired values are not achieved:
Replace fuel metering pump.
| Install | ||
12 | Detach multimeter (6) from the battery (5)
13 | Detach measuring hose from fuel metering pump, and reattach fuel line (2) |
