Remove/install

Remove heat exchanger

Unclip retaining clip (1) from cap (2)

 Clip remover

Remove plug housing (3) from housing lower part (4)

Unclip electric line (5) from housing lower part (4)

Unclip cap (2) from housing upper part (6) (arrows A) and remove

Remove screws (7)

Unclip air duct (8) (arrows B) and remove

Unclip air duct (9) from housing lower part (4)

 Clip remover

Remove screws (10)

Cut through seal (11) in areas illustrated by the dotted line.

Unhook subharness (12) from holders at housing lower part (4)

Unclip housing lower part (4) from air conditioner housing (arrows C) and place to one side with attached electric lines

Remove bolts (13)

Unclip housing upper part (6) from air conditioner housing (arrows D) and remove

 Installation:
Insert electric line (14) of evaporator temperature sensor (15) before installing the housing upper part (6) into the groove (arrow E) on the air conditioner housing.
Otherwise damage occurs to the electric line (14).

Pull evaporator (16) carefully out of air conditioner housing


Do not tilt evaporator (16).
Otherwise damage occurs to the radiator fins of the evaporator (16) or the seal (17) or to the evaporator temperature sensor (15).


Do not detach evaporator temperature sensor (15) from evaporator (16).
Otherwise the evaporator temperature sensor (15) is no longer tightly seated on the evaporator (16).

Remove expansion valve from evaporator (16)

When replacing the evaporator (16).

Check condition and seating of seal (17)

If the seal (17) is damaged.



Replace evaporator (16).

If the seal (17) is incorrectly seated on the evaporator (16).



Position seal (17) correctly.

Install in the reverse order
