Danger

Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.

No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Connect battery charger

1

Open hood

When working on restraint systems, when welding and when working on lines without contact protection, the procedure for maintaining the on-board electrical system voltage must not be performed.
The electrical system or electronic components can otherwise be damaged.

2

Open charging terminal point on front prefuse box (F32) by moving the cover (1)

3

Clip charger positive terminal (3) onto charging terminal point on front prefuse box (F32)

Do not reverse polarity.
Otherwise short circuits will cause damage.

Use a charger with at least 30 A charging current and 13.5 V charging voltage.
Otherwise the on-board electrical system battery (G1) may be partially discharged.

4

Clip ground terminal of charger (4) onto ground terminal point (2) and switch on charger

Disconnect battery charger

5

Switch off charger after completing test and diagnosis work on the vehicle

6

Detach positive terminal from charger (3)

7

Detach ground terminal from charger (4)

8

Close covering (1) on front prefuse box (F32)

9

Close engine hood
