Remove/install

Remove lower engine compartment paneling

Release underfloor paneling on left and right in front area until nuts (7) can be accessed.

Unscrew nuts (7) and release heat shield (1).

Unscrew nuts (9) and remove heat shield (2).

Remove battery carrier.

Unscrew battery sensor (B95) ground line nut at body and place to one side.

 Heat shield (4) can thus be removed.

 Nut, ground line (battery sensor) to body

Remove retaining clips of inerting line, disconnect inerting line and place to one side.

Unscrew bolts (10).

Unscrew nuts (11).

Remove heat shield (3).

 Installation: Ensure heat shield (3) is correctly seated.

Remove cap of brake fluid reservoir and seal with protective cover.

 So that heat shield (4) over brake fluid reservoir can be removed.

Unclip vacuum line (12).

Expose electric lines from support (14).

Remove screws (13) and remove support (14).

Unclip electrical wiring harness from heat shield (4).

 Installation:
Pay attention to the routing and padding of the wiring harness and electrical connector.
To prevent noise development during vehicle operation.


Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension.
This would lead to damage to the lines and can impair their function.

Unscrew nuts (15).

Remove heat shield (4).


Carefully pull rubber section at heat shield (4) over brake fluid reservoir.
Rubber section at heat shield (4) will otherwise be damaged.

Expose nuts (16).

Unscrew nuts (16) and remove heat shield (5).

Install in the reverse order.
