A100 | High-voltage battery module | A100g1 | High-voltage battery |
Danger | Risk of fire/risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC. | No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Danger | Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC) | Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

| Check | ||
1 | Check whether you have the required qualification for assessing the safety of high-voltage on-board electrical systems.
| Service Information: Qualification measures for working on high-voltage on-board electrical systems, lithium-ion batteries and gaseous fuel drive systems | ||
Checks before entry into the workshop for a vehicle with faults in the high-voltage battery module (A100) or accident damage
2 | Before entry into the workshop, check the high-voltage battery module (A100) and detachable parts in the area of the high-voltage battery module (A100) by means of a visual check for fire, smoke development, consequences of a fire, or internal heat development.
Protocol points in the event of an acute hazard:
Smoke is often an early indication of fire.
If smoke development, tarnishing, or charred detachable parts are determined,
| |||
Immediately make an emergency call under the respective location-specific and country-specific emergency call number and do not touch the high-voltage battery module (A100); vacate the danger zone.
3 | Before entry into the workshop, check whether accident damage to the underbody or in the area of the high voltage components is present.
| Service Information: Handling high-voltage batteries after an accident with airbag and/or pyrofuse triggering | ||
4 | Before entry into the workshop, check whether you perceive a pungent odor in the area of the high-voltage battery module (A100).
Protocol point in the event of an acute hazard: A4 electrolyte leakage (visible/smellable).
Additional checks in the workshop for a vehicle with faults in the high-voltage battery module (A100) or accident damage
5 | If no problems are found during operation steps 2 to 4, take the vehicle to the workshop.
6 | Connect vehicle diagnosis system and run quick test.
| |||
If a fault message is present in high voltage components or an isolation fault is present,
| |||
rectify these problems as part of the maintenance work in accordance with the repair documentation.
7 | Lift vehicle with lifting platform.
8 | Check the housing, incl. threaded connections of the high-voltage battery module (A100), for mechanical deformation, cracks, and openings.
Protocol point: B1 to B5
9 | Remove high-voltage battery module (A100). | If, as a result of previous tests, the high-voltage battery module (A100) needs to be replaced or of the high-voltage battery module (A100) needs to be removed for further tests.
Take-back of a used high-voltage battery module (A100)
10 | Perform transport safety assessment with diagnostic device. | Perform diagnosis on removed high-voltage battery
Check housing of lithium-ion battery
Check lithium-ion battery for acute damage
