Remove/install brake shoes of parking brake

Remove/install

 Danger!

Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes.

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Remove rear wheels

Detach front brake cable from cable adjustment device

 Do not detach the rear brake cables.

Release springs (2)

Unhook rear retracting spring (5)

 Removal and installation tool

Pull brake shoes (1) apart at the bottom and remove using brake shoe adjuster (6).

 Installation: Ensure that the cable lock (4) moves easily. Preassemble the front retracting spring (3) with short hook eyes from inside together with the brake shoe adjuster (6). The gear wheel of the brake shoe adjuster (6) is positioned at the bottom. Fit preassembled brake shoes (1) on to brake carrier.

Check brake shoe (1) for wear

Install in the reverse order

Adjust parking brake

Build up brake pressure by operating brake pedal several times

Check fluid level in reservoir; correct if necessary
