| Notes on repairing brake caliper | ||
1 | Remove brake pads | ||
2 | Unscrew threaded pipes through altering the adjuster far enough to enable the thrust pieces with boot (5) to become clearly visible | Adjust the adjuster using a box wrench and a hexagon adapter only and unscrew the threaded pipes (3) no more than a max. 30 mm. Otherwise the adjuster may be damaged and the brake caliper will need to be replaced. | |
3 | Remove thrust pieces with boots (5) | Further dismantling or opening of the brake caliper is not permitted. | |
To pry off the thrust pieces with boot (5), use the prying fork T15 from the tool box K005972 supplied by the Knorr company. | |||
4 | Remove bearing bushing (4) from studs of threaded pipes (3) | ||
5 | Check inner seal cap (2) | If damaged: | |
Replace brake calipers. | |||
6 | Check adjusting thread of threaded tubes (3) for corrosion | If water penetration or corrosion found: | |
Replace brake calipers. | |||

7 | Coat the adjusting thread of threaded tubes (3) with the specified grease. | Use only specified grease. | |
8 | Screw threaded pipes (3) all the way in by adjusting the adjuster (1) | Adjust the adjuster (1) using a box wrench and a hexagon adapter only. Otherwise the adjuster (1) may be damaged and the brake caliper will need to be replaced. | |
9 | Install new bearing bushing (4) on the studs of the threaded pipes (3) | ||
10 | Install thrust pieces with boots (5) | To install the thrust pieces with boot (5), use the tool combination (WK 2.5) with tools T01, T02, T03 from the tool box K005972 supplied by the Knorr company. | |
