AR41.10-W-0050-14NA | Detach, attach propeller shaft at transmission
Danger | Risk of death for persons with implants caused by work on permanent magnet retarder. Risk of injury caused by burns due to contact with hot rotor. | As a safe distance from the permanent magnet retarder, a minimum distance of 30 cm is to be maintained between the permanent magnet retarder and the body parts of the affected person for people with implants.
Warning | Risk of injury. Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. | No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components.
Topical note | Notes on removal/installation of propeller shafts

Remove |
W41.10-1035-09
1 | Turn propeller shaft (1) until two nuts of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2) are at the top. |
2 | Mark installation position of propeller shaft center support bearing (3) on bracket (4). |
3 | Detach propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) from bracket (4) and lower far enough to gain access to the two nuts at the top of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2). |
4 | Remove the two top nuts of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2). |
5 | Temporarily attach propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) to bracket (4). |
Do not tighten the bolted connection. |
6 | Turn propeller shaft (1) until the two remaining nuts of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2) are at the top. |
7 | Detach propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) from bracket (4) and lower far enough to gain access to the two remaining nuts of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2). |
8 | Remove the two remaining nuts of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2). |
Install |
W41.10-1035-09
9 | Mount propeller shaft (1) onto flange of permanent magnet retarder and fasten to both threaded pins at the top . |
If necessary, turn propeller shaft (1) or flange of permanent magnet retarder far enough until the two bolt holes or two threaded pins are at the top. To turn propeller shaft (1), propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) must always be temporarily mounted onto bracket (4), but must be removed again and lowered in order to tighten the nuts on the permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2). |
10 | Temporarily attach propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) to bracket (4). |
Do not tighten the bolted connection. |
11 | Turn propeller shaft (1) until the two remaining threaded pins of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2) are at the top. |
12 | Detach propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) from bracket (4) and lower far enough to gain access to the two remaining threaded pins of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2). |
13 | Fasten propeller shaft (1) to both remaining threaded pins of permanent magnet retarder flange connection (2) . |
14 | Mount propeller shaft intermediate bearing (3) onto bracket (4) and tighten . |
Note marking of installation position for propeller shaft center support bearing (3) on bracket (4). |
