Removing

Remove brake carrier with brake caliper

Remove cover (10)

Loosen bolt (7) and remove clamp nut (8)



Remove thrust plate (6)

Remove wheel hub (4)



Remove outer tapered roller bearing (5) from wheel hub (4)

Remove cassette-type sealing ring (1) and inner tapered roller bearing (3)

Remove axial sealing ring (2) from inner tapered roller bearing (3)



Install

Clean contact surface of wheel hub (4) on steering knuckle

Install new axial sealing ring (2) in inner tapered roller bearing (3)

Grease inner tapered roller bearing (3) and insert into front wheel hub (4)

 Use part of the specified quantity of grease.

 The wheel hub must contain the specified quantity of grease following assembly otherwise damage could occur. The wheel bearings could overheat if there is not enough grease. If there is too much grease, the excess grease could be discharged from the wheel hub and come into contact with the brake linings.

 The specified quantity of grease is packed into the wheel hub over several operation steps.



Install new cassette-type sealing ring (1) into wheel hub (4)

Derust contact surface for inner tapered roller bearing (3) on steering knuckle

Fill wheel hub (4) with grease

 Use another part of the specified quantity of grease.



Pull on wheel hub (4) of trailing axle

Grease outer tapered roller bearing (5) and insert into wheel hub (4)

 Use another part of the specified quantity of grease.



Fit thrust plate (6) and clamp nut (8)

Tighten clamp nut (8)

 When tightening, turn wheel hub (4) and apply a few blows to the wheel hub (4) in a crosswise pattern until the tapered roller bearings (3, 5) have zero clearance.



Check and adjust wheel bearing play

Tighten cylinder head bolt (7) and screw on clamp nut (8) until tight



Fill cover (10) with grease

 Use the remainder of the specified quantity of grease.

Install cap (10)

 Use new seal (9) and bolts (11).
