Remove

Remove wheels on the rear axle

Unscrew screws/bolts (5) and remove brake caliper (6) with brake caliper support

 Fasten brake caliper (6) into wheel arch.

Remove rear axle shaft (13)

Reset parking-brake brake shoes at the adjustment screw (15) in direction of arrow

Take off wheel hub (7)

Pull ABS sensor ring (1), radial shaft sealing ring (2), spacer ring (3) and inner wheel bearing (4) out of wheel hub (7)

Install

 Warning

Check thrust rings for damage and replace if necessary

Do not mix up the thrust rings for the left and right sides. To prevent confusion, the thrust ring for the right side is color coded in the chamfer.
If not properly fitted a leakage will occur.

Insert inner wheel bearing (4) and new spacer ring (3)

 Apply coating of MB multipurpose grease to the inner wheel bearing (4).

Drive new radial shaft sealing ring (2) using drift flush into the wheel hub (7)

 Coat the sealing surface with sealant.

 Check sealing surface of wheel hub (7) for any damage and rework, if necessary.

Drive ABS sensor ring (1) in flush with the wheel hub (7)

 Coat the contact surface with sealant.

Mount brake caliper (6) with brake caliper support and screw in screws/bolts (5)

 Replace screw/bolts (5).

 Bolt, brake caliper support to rear axle tube
