Remove/install

Remove each front wheel.

Remove torsion bar linkage of front axle level sensor from transverse control arm (1).

Model 447, 448 with code LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System)
If the left transverse control arm (1) is removed.

 To do so, unclip torsion bar linkage.

 Installation: Torsion bar linkage must latch audibly into ball head on transverse control arm (1).

Remove torsion bar linkage of front axle level sensor from respective transverse control arm (1).

Model 447 with code CA4 (AIRMATIC)

 To do so, unclip torsion bar linkage.

 Installation: Torsion bar linkage must latch audibly into ball head on transverse control arm (1).

Remove ball head of tie rod from steering knuckle.

Remove nut (2).

 Nut, wishbone to steering knuckle

Remove transverse control arm (1) from steering knuckle.

Remove bolts (3, 4).

 Front screw, transverse control arm to front axle carrier/integral carrier

 Rear screw, transverse control arm to front axle carrier/integral carrier

Remove transverse control arm (1).



Check

Check rivet of transverse control arm (1).

If rivets are loosely seated,



replace transverse control arm (1).

Check bearings of transverse control arm (1) for wear and damage.

If damage is present,



Replace transverse control arm (1).

Check supporting joint of transverse control arm (1) for wear and damage.

If damage is present,



Replace transverse control arm (1).

Install in the reverse order.



Measure

Perform chassis alignment.

If the transverse control arm (1) is replaced.
