3	Unscrew nuts (15) and remove stabilizer bar (6) from trailing arms (1).
4	Mark installation position of propeller shaft (14) relative to drive flange (9).

6	Fasten propeller shaft (14) onto frame and secure against falling down.
7	Remove axle ventilation from axle tube.
8	Unscrew hydraulic line (16) from shift cylinder of differential lock and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.	 Record plug	*129589009100
9	Disconnect electrical connector (17) from differential lock indicator switch.	 To do so, unscrew the union nut.
10	Remove brake line (28) from brake hose (24) on left and right side of vehicle, and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.	 The expansion reservoir for brake fluid must not run empty. Otherwise the conditions during bleeding will be difficult.

11	Remove brake hose (24) from steering knuckle on left and right side of vehicle.

13	Unclip electric line from left and right steering knuckle, remove left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1), right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2) from left or right steering knuckle. 14	Release and disconnect electrical connectors (26) of brakepad wear display from socket (27) on left and right side of vehicle.
15	Remove sockets (27) from steering knuckles.
16	Remove cotter pin, unscrew castle nut (7) and pry drag link off steering arm (8).	 Thrust piece	*216589003400

17	Fasten drag link onto frame and secure against falling down.
18	Raise front axle or lower vehicle and remove transverse control arm (4) from frame.

		 Remove bolt fastening transverse control arm (4) onto frame with suspension compressed. Otherwise, the bolt will be damaged.

21	Unscrew nuts (19) from trailing arms (1), remove sheet metal washers (13c) and elastomer bearings (13b).
22	Lower vehicle until front axle can be removed from trailing arm brackets on frame.	 Removal is made easier if, for example, a pallet is positioned under the vehicle upon which the front axle can then be placed.
23	Remove brake line (28) from brake caliper on left and right side of vehicle, and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.	When replacing the front axle.

24	Remove bolt (29) and remove transverse control arm (4) from front axle.	When replacing the front axle.
25	Remove bolts (30) and remove trailing arms (1) from front axle.	When replacing the front axle.
26	Check elastomer bearings (13a, 13b) for damage.	If problems exist,
		
		replace elastomer bearings (13a,13b).
	Install
27	Attach trailing arms (1) to front axle, screw in bolts (30) and tighten.	When replacing the front axle.

28	Mount transverse control arm (4) onto front axle.	When replacing the front axle.
		 Tighten bolt (29) with suspension compressed. Otherwise the elastomer bearings will be torsionally loaded.
29	Attach brake line (28) to brake caliper on left and right side of vehicle.	When replacing the front axle.

30	Position front axle under vehicle.
31	Lower vehicle until the trailing arms (1) can be guided into the trailing arm brackets on the frame.	 Aid of helper required.
		 The trailing arms (1) must be in a horizontal position for installation, otherwise the elastomer bearings (13a, 13b) cannot be installed.
32	Install elastomer bearings (13b), sheet metal washers (13c) and tighten nuts (19).	 Nut, trailing arm to frame	*BA33.15-P-1001-01A

		 To do so, lower vehicle or raise front axle until nuts (21) can be tightened. Observe sequence of stop buffers and sheet metal washers.

35	Mount transverse control arm (4) onto frame.

		 Only tighten nut (11) when vehicle is in ready-to-drive condition with suspension compressed. Otherwise the elastomer bearings will be torsionally loaded.
		 To do so, lower vehicle or lift front axle until screw can be installed without being tilted.
36	Remove support plate and major assembly mount.

38	Remove retainer of drag link from frame.
39	Mount drag link onto steering arm (8).	 Secure castle nut (7) with a new cotter pin.
