1 | Remove multidisk brake B1. | ||
Do not remove outer plate carrier (16a) from torque converter housing. | |||
| Disassemble | ||
2 | Remove retaining ring (105s). | Pliers | |
3 | Remove end disk (105). | ||
4 | Remove clutch pack (5). | ||
5 | Remove disk spring (5t). | ||
6 | Place outer plate carrier (16a) with torque converter housing in lever-type hand gun. | ||
7 | Place thrust device on disk spring (16t). | To enable the retaining ring (16s) to be removed later, position the thrust device precisely (arrow B). | |

8 | Actuate lever-type hand gun until retaining ring (16s) is exposed. | | |
9 | Remove retaining ring (16s) from groove. | Pliers | |
10 | Reset hand lever press. | ||
11 | Remove thrust device from lever-type hand gun. | ||
12 | Remove outer plate carrier (16a) from torque converter housing. | ||
13 | Remove retaining ring (16s). | ||
14 | Remove disk spring (16t). | ||
15 | Remove piston (16k) from outer plate carrier (16a). | ||
16 | Remove torque converter housing from lever-type hand gun. | ||

17 | Check axial bearing (161), bearing (162), contact surfaces and sealing rings (arrow A) for swirl marks and damage. | If swirl marks or damage are visible, | |

Replace outer plate carrier (16a). | |||
The axial bearing (161) and bearing (162) together with the outer plate carrier (16a) form a single unit and must always be replaced together. | |||
18 | Check clutch pack (5) for scorch marks and wear. | If scorch marks or worn disks are visible, | |

Replace disks of clutch pack (5). | |||
19 | Check piston (16k) and vulcanized seal for damage. | If damage is visible, | |

replace piston (16). | |||
20 | Check outer plate carrier (16a) for damage. | If damage is visible, | |
| |||
Replace outer plate carrier (16a). | |||
| Assemble | ||
21 | Lie new disks in transmission oil for at least one hour. | When replacing. | |
| Automatic transmission fluids (ATF) (specification 236.15) | ||
22 | Place torque converter housing in lever-type hand gun. | ||
23 | Install piston (16k) in outer plate carrier (16a). | ||
24 | Install disk spring (16t). | Insert disk spring (16t) in such a way that curvature of inner circumference points toward piston (16k). | |
25 | Fit retaining ring (16s). | Final installation is only possible when the lever press is actuated. | |
26 | Install outer plate carrier (16a) in torque converter housing. | ||
27 | Place thrust device on disk spring (16t). | To enable the retaining ring (16s) to be installed, position the thrust device precisely (arrow B). | |

34 | Install clutch pack (5). | ||
35 | Install end disk (105). | ||
36 | Install retaining ring (105s). | Pliers | |

37 | Measure and adjust clearance of clutch pack (5). | ||
