Tightening order of housing of heat exchanger
| Remove/install | ||
1 | Remove lower engine compartment paneling | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses. | |
2 | Drain and collect coolant | ||
3 | Remove bottom charge air pipe on left | ||
4 | Remove oil filter | ||
| Replace oil filter element | ||
5 | Detach oil lines (2) | ||
6 | Unscrew bolts (3) and take off housing of oil-water heat exchanger (1) together with gasket | Installation: - Observe tightening sequence, - clean sealing surface and - replace gasket. | |
7 | Unscrew bolts (4) and take off oil-water heat exchanger (5) together with gaskets (6) | Collect coolant and engine oil which flow out. Installation: - Clean sealing surface, - replace gaskets (6). | |
8 | Install in the reverse order | ||

9 | Inspect engine oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary | | |
Danger! | Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine | Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving off by itself. | |
10 | Run engine until warm and check for leaks | Engine oil pressure gage must indicate oil pressure after 10 s. If engine does not start after 10 seconds, wait 30 s and repeat attempt at starting. | |
11 | Switch engine off and inspect engine oil level after about 5 min., adjust to correct level if necessary | |
