| Remove/install | ||
1 | Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery. | ||
2 | Remove front bumper. | ||
3 | Remove charge air hose downstream of charge air cooler. | ||
4 | Remove charge air hose upstream of charge air cooler on charge air cooler. | Model 447 with engine 622.9 | |
5 | Detach cable (1) for hood catch and place to one side. | Model 447 with engine 622.9 | |
6 | Remove front end crossmember (2) at top at front module crossmember. | To do this, remove screws/bolts (3). | |
7 | Remove crossmember below bumper together with lock carrier (2). | ||
8 | Release upper locks of radiator package (4). | ||
9 | Disconnect electrical connector (5). | ||
10.1 | Remove radiator. | Model 447 with engine 622.9 | |
10.2 | Remove radiator unit. | Model 447 with engine 622.8 | |
11 | Remove charge air pipe. | Model 447 with engine 622.8 | |
12 | Remove nuts (6). | Nut, control line to starter | |

13 | Remove bolts (7) of starter (M1). | Bolt, starter to transmission housing | |
14 | Detach radiator package (4). | Model 447 with engine 622 | |

15 | Remove starter (M1) upward. | ||
| Check | ||
16 | Check ring gear of flywheel for damage and wear. | To do so, rotate engine at crankshaft in direction of engine rotation. | |
If damage and/or wear exist: | |||

Replace flywheel. | |||
17 | Check starter drive pinion for damage and wear. | If damage and/or wear exist: | |

Replace starter (M1). | |||
18 | Install in the reverse order. |
