Only perform operation steps 1 to 10 for removal of the engine
1 | Disconnect electrical connection (1) on CDI control unit (N3/9/). |
2 | Disconnect electrical connection (2) for oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter. |
3 | Disconnect vehicle interior and engine wiring harness (X26) electrical connection. |
4 | Disconnect electrical connection (3) for temperature sensor upstream of CAT. |
5 | Remove cover (4). |
6 | Detach electrical lines (5, 6, 7, 8) at firewall and fix to engine. |
Do not mix up electrical lines (5, 6, 7, 8); mark if necessary. |

Perform operation steps 11 to 27 for removal of cylinder head cover.
11 | Unclip engine wiring harness (12) at the respective retaining clip (arrows) and lift somewhat. |
12 | Remove screw/bolt (13). |
13 | Remove cover (14). |
14 | Disconnect electrical connection at camshaft Hall sensor (B6/1). |
15 | Disconnect electrical connection at cylinder 1 fuel injector (Y76/1), cylinder 2 fuel injector (Y76/2), cylinder 3 fuel injector (Y76/3), cylinder 4 fuel injector (Y76/4). |
16 | Disconnect electrical connection for temperature sensor upstream of turbocharger at connecting point (15). |
17 | Disconnect vehicle interior and engine wiring harness (X26) electrical connection. |
18 | Disconnect glow plug electrical connection (X214). |
19 | Disconnect electrical connection on the fuel pressure sensor (B4/7). |
20 | Disconnect electrical connection at boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y31/5). |
21 | Disconnect electrical connection at exhaust pressure sensor (B60). |
22 | Disconnect electrical connection at pressure regulating valve (Y74). |
23 | Disconnect electrical connection at fuel filter condensation sensor with heating element (B76/1). |
24 | Disconnect electrical connection from intake port shutoff actuator motor (M55). |
25 | Disconnect electrical connection on DPF differential pressure sensor (B28/8). |
26 | Disconnect electrical connection on high pressure fuel pressure sensor (B4/6). |
27 | Pull engine wiring harness (12) and cable duct (16) upwards and fix in place. |
28 | Connect in reverse order. |
