Turn flywheel (1) with the  turning device until the marking (arrow A) on flywheel (1) stands on the casting edge (arrow B) on timing case (2).

Shown on engine 471.9

 Tighten template (3) and  spacer (3.1) on camshaft case.

 Do not use the  spacer for an installed intermediate frame on engines (3.1) 470.9, 471.9.
Observe marking on the  template (3) and insert the screw/bolts (4) in the respective bores on the  template (3).
Engine 470.9  marking "10.6"
Engine 471.9  marking "12.8"
Engine 473.9  marking "15.6"

Check markings (arrows C) on gear (5) for intake camshaft and on gear (6) of exhaust camshaft.

 The markings (arrows C) must match with the markings on the  template (3).

Engine 473.9  marking "15.6"
If the markings (arrows C) do not line up with the markings, the flywheel (1) must be turned again using the  cranking device through 360°.

Disconnect electrical connection (7) on crankshaft position sensor (B600).

Remove screw/bolt (8) and take crankshaft position sensor (B600) out of the timing case (2).

 Insert drift (9) in the bore for the crankshaft position sensor (B600) and lock flywheel (1).

 The pin of the  drift (9) must sit in the groove (arrow D) in flywheel (1).
