Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

Remove/install

Disconnect electrical connector (1)

Separate electrical connector (2) and detach from bracket of fuel filter (3)

With CODE KL5 (Fuel filter with water separator)

Detach fuel lines (4) from fuel filter (3)

 Collect escaping fuel and seal connections.

 Record plug

Remove fuel filter (3)

 To do this, undo the screw (5) on the bracket of the fuel filter (3).

 Installation: Check that the fuel filter (3) is correctly seated.

5.1

Remove fill level sensor (6)

With CODE KL5 (Fuel filter with water separator)

 Collect escaping fuel.

 Installation: Replace seal.

5.2

Unscrew drain screw

Except CODE KL5 (Fuel filter with water separator)

 Collect escaping fuel.

 Installation: Replace seal.

Install in the reverse order

Switch on ignition


Leave the ignition switched on for at least 15 s so that fuel is present at the high-pressure pump when the engine starts.
This avoids damage to the high-pressure pump.



Check

Check for leaktightness with engine running

 Perform a visual inspection only and then switch off the engine.
