Remove

 Caution

Risk of injury to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Allow engine to warm up

 Coolant temperature min. 80 °C.

Remove oil filter element

Lift/jack up vehicle

Only if no pit is available and engine oil is to be drained.



4.1

Pull out oil dipstick and extract engine oil through guide tube

Suction off engine oil.

 Extract engine oil only when the engine is at normal operating temperature.

4.2

Position a suitable receptacle under drain screw of oil pan and drain engine oil

Drain engine oil.

 Remove lower engine compartment paneling.



Install

Screw in and tighten drain screw

 Replace seal.

Install oil filter element

Pour in engine oil at filler neck

Check

Run engine until it is at operating temperature, and check for leaktightness


Do not rev up engine immediately after starting as long as there is no oil pressure indicated.
To prevent engine damage.

 Coolant temperature min. 80 °C.

Switch off engine

Check oil level using oil dipstick; correct if necessary

 Insert oil dipstick up to end stop in oil-dipstick guide tube and wait for at least 3 s.

Install lower engine compartment paneling.

Only if engine oil has been drained.

Confirm oil change in maintenance booklet or in DSB
