Removing

Drain oil

Remove both rear axle shafts (12)

 Unscrew hexagon bolts (11)

Unscrew axle housing cover (6)

Remove adjusting screw (15)

 Slacken jam nut (16) and unscrew adjusting screw (15) with sliding block (14)

Remove locking plates (3)

 Unscrew hexagon bolts (4)

Remove bearing cap (1).

  Unscrew hexagon bolts (2). Loosen bearing cap(s) (1) by light blows with a plastic-headed hammer and rotating the threaded rings and remove.

 Mark bearing cover (1) relative to axle housing (13).

Remove threaded rings (10)



Remove ring gear with differential (8) and remove outer races (9)

 Mark outer races (9) and tapered roller bearings relative to each other



Install

Install ring gear with differential (8) with outer races (9) in axle housing (13)

 In the case of used tapered roller bearings, pay attention to the marking on the outer races (9)

Install threaded rings (10)

 Oil threaded rings (10), positive-lock into thread in axle housing (13) and turn until they lie flat against the outer races (9).

Install bearing cap (1).

 Mount bearing cap(s) (1) as per the identification, drive against the axle housing (13) using a rubber-headed hammer and tighten hexagon bolts (2) until it is still possible to turn the threaded rings (10)lightly

Screw in the threaded rings (10) until the tapered roller bearings (9) run without any play



Install adjusting screw (15) with sliding block (14) and adjust

  Screw in adjusting screw (15) with sliding block (14) until they abut the ring gear.

Turn back 1/8 revolution and lock with jam nut (16).

  Use a new gasket (7)

 Clean contact surfaces thoroughly and coat with sealant
