1 Turn crown wheel (3) a few times.
2 Attach gauge stand (1) and dial gauge (2) to axle housing.
3 Align dial gauge tip as upright as possible under preload on the supporting surface of a crown wheel tooth.
4 Lock drive pinion and measure gear backlash by turning the crown wheel (3) to and fro.
5 Adjust gear backlash by turning the ring nuts using .
6 Measure gear backlash at at least three points on the crown wheel (3) offset by 120°.
