Remove/install

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain/fill in coolant

At radiator

Unscrew cap (6) at oil filter housing

Take out oil filter element (5) to allow engine oil to flow off into the oil pan

Detach coolant hose (2) at oil-water heat exchanger (1)

Detach oil-water heat exchanger (1) at timing case cover

Installation: Clean sealing surfaces

Install new gasket (3).

Install in the reverse order

Inspecting cooling system for leaks

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Inspect for oil leaks

Run engine until warm, switch off and inspect for leaks.
