 Caution

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Remove cylinder head cover.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Remove upper slide rail (5) from cylinder head cover.

Remove the timing case cover.

When removing the lower slide rail (6).

Remove cylinder head.

When removing the lower slide rail (6).

Remove lower slide rail (6) from slide rail pins (7).

When removing the lower slide rail (6).



Check

Check tensioning rail (2) for wear and damage.

If there is a problem,



Replace tensioning rail (2).

Check upper slide rail (5) and lower slide rail (6) for wear and damage.

If there is a problem:



Replace upper slide rail (5) and lower slide rail (6).

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.

Install upper engine cover.
