Risk of explosion caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of burn injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.

Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.

Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Disconnect ground cable (W10) of battery

Installation: Code radio, set clock, calibrate power windows and set timer on vehicles with stationary heater.

Take off housing (1) at terminal block engine circuit 30 (X4/30)

Disconnect cable circuit 30 (2) at terminal block engine circuit (X4/30)

Remove air plenum chamber and water collector (3)

Take off cover (4) at firewall

Unlock and detach connectors (5, 6, 7) at CDI control module (N39/2)

First of all unplug connector (5) to enable connector (6) to be unlocked.

Detach plug-in connection (8)

Pull out engine wiring harness (9) at body opening

Detach ground cable (10)

Take off securing clamp (11)

Unscrew connection of glow output stage circuit 30 (N14/2x3)

Separate central connector of automatic transmission (X22/2) at automatic transmission

Bayonet lock.

Unbolt ground cable of transmission (W49)

Unbolt at frame.

Install in the reverse order

Deactivate the service mode in the TELE AID emergency call system

Read diagnostic trouble code memory and erase

STAR DIAGNOSIS
Stored faults which can be due to disconnected cables or a simulation during assembly or test work, must be worked on in the fault memories at the end of the work and erased.

Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
