We would like to notify you here of the deactivation process for the HERMES control unit (N112/9).
This is generally applicable information.
Before deactivating a HERMES control unit (N112/9) the legal department at the respective MPC should clarify whether and under which circumstances the deactivation process may be conducted. If a deactivation is not permitted for legal reasons, the HERMES control unit (N112/9) may not be deactivated.
Please notify the customer that after deactivation the vehicle will be unable to issue an automatic emergency call and the customer will not be able to send a manual emergency call.
After deactivation, the Mercedes me connect services are also no longer available.
Please have an example of the form to be included checked by the legal department of your market, if necessary, adjust to match the given market then release if necessary.
Please have the enclosed form filled out by the workshop and the customer after explaining the effects of the deactivation procedure to the customer, then have it signed and sent to the MPC per XSF case (USA) or TIPS case (Canada) for tamperproof documentation.
Furthermore, the workshop must attach an adhesive label to the emergency call button. To do this, use the part number BQ4980140.
To enable the XENTRY Diagnostics to be deactivated, the SA code 09o "Deactivation of communication module" must be entered beforehand in the vehicle's data card. This can only be performed by the responsible MPC employee with special VeDoc write permissions.
The following operation steps are to then be conducted in the workshop using XENTRY Diagnostics:
1 Connect XENTRY Diagnostics.
2 Select HERMES control unit (N112/9).
3 Perform "deactivation" in the HERMES control unit (N112/9).
To do so, select the menu item Adaptations Teach-in processes and follow the give instructions.
Once deactivation has been successfully performed, the HERMES control unit (N112/9) has an "Out of service" operating status.
