2 | Remove transmission | ||
| Disassemble | ||
3 | Attach transmission to assembly stand | ||
4 | Move transmission into the vertical position | Input end uppermost. | |
5 | Remove radial shaft sealing ring of drive shaft (1) and sealing cover | ||
6 | Loosen bolt (2) of countershaft (3) | With permanent all-wheel drive, code ZG2 counterhold at coupling flange. without permanent all-wheel drive, code ZG2 counterhold at flange (5) using retainer wrench. | |

7 | Turn drive side of transmission downwards | ||
8 | Remove bolts (4) | Do not remove two opposite bolts (4) completely. | |
9 | Turn drive side of transmission upwards | ||
10 | Loosen rear part of transmission housing (7) from front part of transmission housing (6) | ||
11 | Remove bolt (2) | ||
12 | Move transmission into the horizontal position | ||
13 | Remove remaining bolts (4) | ||
14 | Detach rear part of transmission housing (7) from front part of transmission housing (6) | Use aid of helper. | |

15 | Check all parts for damage and wear | ||
| Clean | ||
16 | Clean contact surfaces of transmission housing | The separating surfaces must be free of oil and grease. | |
| Assemble | ||
17 | Insert front part of transmission housing (6) into rear part of transmission housing (7) from above | Insert needle roller bearing of drive shaft (1) and insert main shaft, countershaft (3) and shift unit into the corresponding bearings. | |
18 | Coat contact surfaces of transmission housing with sealant | Sealant | |
19 | Move rear part of transmission housing (7) into true vertical position | Fix rear part of transmission housing (7) in place to prevent it from tilting, get help from an assistant. | |
20 | Detach front part of transmission housing (6) from assembly stand | ||
21 | Screw in bolt (2) of countershaft (3) | Screw in bolt (2) of countershaft (3) until bolts (4) can be attached. | |
22 | Fit bolts (4) | ||
23 | Attach transmission to assembly stand | ||
24 | Fully tighten bolts (4) | Tighten bolts (4) in a crosswise pattern. | |

25 | Tighten bolt (2) of countershaft (3) | With permanent all-wheel drive, code ZG2 counterhold at coupling flange. without permanent all-wheel drive, code ZG2 counterhold at flange (5) using retainer wrench. | |
