Remove/install end cover together with shaft seal

1 End cover with radial shaft seal (die casting in repair kit)

2 Extruded edge seal

3 Crankshaft

4 Screw

5 Assembly sleeve (preassembled in repair kit)

6 Fitting sleeve

	Remove
1	Drain engine oil	 Do not replace oil filter!
	Engine - oil and filter change		AP18.00-L-0101VA
2.1	Remove flywheel	On models fitted with manual transmission	AR03.30-L-8002VA
2.2	Remove driven plate	On models fitted with automatic transmission.	AR03.30-L-8003VA
3	Unscrew bolts (4), detach end cover together with radial shaft seal (1) at crankcase and take off	 The end cover is supplied with assembly sleeve preassembled.
4	Pull out dowel sleeves (6)	 Inspect condition of dowel sleeves (6), replace if necessary.
	Install
5	Clean sealing surfaces	 Ensure scrupulous cleanliness. Clean sealing surfaces at crankcase and at oil pan (e. g. with acetone), clean surface on crankshaft with a clean cloth without using cleaning products.

6	Coat sealing surfaces at end cover and radial shaft seal with sealant. Apply sealant to the joint (arrows) of oil pan to crankcase

7	Fit on end cover with radial shaft seal (1) and assembly sleeve (5) at the crankshaft	Assembly sleeve (5) is supplied preassembled in the repair kit.
8	Push end cover together with radial shaft seal (1) over the assembly sleeve (5) and position it flush against the crankcase. Take off assembly sleeve (5).	 Sealing lip (2) must be resting against the crankshaft (3) (refer to sectional view).
9	Insert dowel sleeves (6)
10	Tighten bolts (4)

12	Pour in engine oil
