Service Information: Optimized cylinder head for air compressor

 As part of ongoing technical developments the cylinder head of the air compressor has been standardized and optimized with 238 cm3 (Euro 3) and 352 cm3 (Euro 4/5).
The series production breakpoint of the air compressor with the improved cylinder head shall be from 08/2011 onwards with vehicle identification number 227667.

Shown here is the new cylinder head with part number A 001 130 79 15

Major features

 Optimized threaded connection and sealing surfaces,

 Improved cylinder head gasket,

 Discontinuation of PR control connection,

 Can be retrofitted on vehicles with Euro 3/4/5.

Important information for repairs

 Only the new cylinder head with part number A 001 130 79 15 may now be installed. This can now be obtained through the usual ordering channels. Replacement of the entire air compressor due to a leaky cylinder head or cylinder head gasket is not permissible.

 When converting to the new cylinder head the assembly notes in TIPS and WIS must be observed. See hereto TIPS Group 20.00 (coolant loss through expansion reservoir) as well as AR13.30­G­6010B in the WIS. The STIN 43/71 "Coolant leaks from expansion reservoir of engine cooling system" is now invalid.

Important additional operation for Unimog MODEL 405.050/101/103/121/123/201/221:

On vehicles up to vehicle identification end number 227666, when converting to the new compressor, a pressure limiting valve must be installed in the high-pressure control circuit of the compressed-air brake system.
